I am in no way done working through what the last two months mean to me and find talking about it still rather difficult, but hopefully this will change as I acclimatise further.<\/p>\n<p>This post is a great big THANK YOU to everyone who made Haiti such an unforgettable experience:<br \/>\nFirst of all, my new GVN family &#8211; I didn\u2019t think it was possible to get so close with people in such a short period of time, but you\u2019ll be in my heart (and hopefully my life) forever.<br \/>\nThen, as always, my friends and family, particularly my parents, for their never-ending support and encouragement &#8211; as well as paying the huge fee at the airport to get my third bag of donations to Haiti. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.volunteerjournals.org\/wordpress\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/><br \/>\nAnd (in no particular order) my best friend Sibylle, Tony, Cindy, Antoinette + her mom, Avi, Lis + Edi, Maria, Vreni, Leona, Otfried + Kathrin, Monika + Gerhard, Felix, Choenyi, Taptim + her friends, Regina, Mirella, Simon, Fabian of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.72h.ch\/\" target=\"new\">Aktion 72 Stunden<\/a>, Kastor AG (my previous workplace), and the women\u2019s group and <a href=\"http:\/\/zuerich.baptisten.ch\/\" target=\"new\">Baptist church of Zurich<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Your donations enabled the following: my second month with GVN, luggage, children\u2019s vitamins, clothing donations, dental hygiene products, Jeff\u2019s tuition, support for Esther + her family, as well as most of the construction costs at Ecole Nationale de Cyvadier. There&#8217;s even some left over, which I will give to GVN people who are going back to combat cholera. You guys ROCK! <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.volunteerjournals.org\/wordpress\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Also, everyone who\u2019s been following this adventure in thought and prayer, I swear I felt it when things got hard, and I thank you. Dezember, 16.30 Uhr<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Gestern kam ich wieder in der Schweiz an, nach einer Woche Ferien in Miami Beach, und wurde von meiner Familie warm in Empfang genommen. Ich bin noch weit davon entfernt, die letzten zwei Monate verarbeitet zu haben, aber hoffentlich wird es leichter werden, wenn ich mich wieder eingew\u00f6hnt habe.<\/p>\n<p>Dieser Post ist ein riesiges DANKESCH\u00d6N an alle, die Haiti zu einem so unvergesslichen Erlebnis gemacht haben:<br \/>\nZuallererst meine neue GVN-Familie &#8211; ich h\u00e4tte nicht gedacht, dass man Menschen in so kurzer Zeit so nahe kommen kann, aber ihr seid f\u00fcr immer in meinem Herzen (und hoffentlich auch in meinem Leben).<br \/>\nDanach, wie immer, meine Freunde und Familie, besonders meine Eltern, f\u00fcr ihre konstante Unterst\u00fctzung und Ermutigung &#8211; sowie auch f\u00fcr das Bezahlen der riesigen Geb\u00fchr f\u00fcr meine dritte Spendentasche am Flughafen. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.volunteerjournals.org\/wordpress\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/><br \/>\nUnd (in keiner besonderen Reihenfolge) meine beste Freundin Sibylle, Tony, Cindy, Antoinette + ihre Mutter, Lis + Edi, Maria, Vreni, Leona, Otfried + Karin, Monika + Gerhard, Felix, Choenyi, Taptim + ihre Kollegen, Regina, Mirella, Simon, Fabian von <a href=\"http:\/\/www.72h.ch\/\" target=\"new\">Aktion 72 Stunden<\/a>, Kastor AG (mein ehemaliger Arbeitgeber) und der Frauendienst und die Gemeinde der <a href=\"http:\/\/zuerich.baptisten.ch\/\" target=\"new\">Baptistengemeinde Z\u00fcrich<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eure Spenden erm\u00f6glichten das folgende: mein 2. Monat mit GVN, Gep\u00e4ck, Vitamine f\u00fcr Kinder, Kleiderspenden, Zahnputzsachen, Jeffs Schulgeb\u00fchren, Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr Esther + ihre Familie, sowie den gr\u00f6ssten Teil der Baukosten f\u00fcr Ecole Nationale de Cyvadier. Es ist sogar noch was \u00fcber &#8211; und das werde ich GVN-Freiwilligen geben, die zur\u00fcckgehen, um Cholera zu bek\u00e4mpfen.
